Before the community of Old Thermopolis was started there was a settlement called Andersonville on the east side of the (Big Horn River). It took its name from three Anderson brothers who owned the place. Its main attractions were a restaurant, a saloon and a house of ill fame. It was a hold out for much of the lawless element of the time.
