Origin of Name:

Creek, Yellowstone National Park, ... , flowing northeasterly into Lava Creek. This creek rises in the north end of a marsh, its waters flowing north. At the south end of the marsh, 1 mile distant, another stream arises, unnamed, whose waters flow south. These waters meet again at the mouth of the Yellowstone River, those of Arrow Canyon through Lava Creek, Gardiner and Yellowstone Rivers, and those of the unnamed creek through Solfatara Creek, Gibbon, Madison and Missouri Rivers.
