Arvada was originally known as Suggs (for a cattleman who was also a postmaster) The name was changed by officials of the Burlington Railroad when the station was established in 1892.

History:

Arvada Post Office was established as Suggs Post Office on September 14, 1891. Its location was changed to Arvada on July 20, 1893. George W. Choffin was the first postmaster.
