Origin of Name:
Beartown was at one time a thriving construction camp. It was located about 12 miles south east of Evanston on the Union Pacific Railroad. It was named Beartown after Bear River which was but a few miles west. Although at one time the population of Beartown was probably somewhere around 1500 it is now entirely deserted and there are practically no landmarks to show you where this once large town stood.
