History:
This geyser is recognisable at once by its cone, which has the form of an old-fashioned beehive, three feet in height and about seven in diameter at the base. It is coated with beautifully-beaded formations, which have an almost pearly lustre. The eruptions are very fine, and are peculiar to this geyser. The water and steam issue from the orifice in a steady stream instead of successive impulses. The greatest measured height of the column of water is 178 feet, while the steam has been forced 193 feet into the air. During the eruptions the pent-up steam shakes the earth around with mighty throbs. The period of this geyser is irregular, as is also the duration of its eruptions.
