North of the Big Spring, on a little higher ground, is located the Black Sulphur Spring. This is much smaller than the Big Spring, but many people drink this water in the belief that it is better for stomach disorders. There is no bath house at this point, but a small monument may be seen near this spring which bears the inscription, "Site of bath house used by Chief Washakie. Erected by Washakie Chapter, D. A. R." In 1897 there was one of the old stone bath houses at this point.

Black Sulphur Spring, north of Big Spring is slow moving and dark; attempts to measure its depth have been frustrated at 117 feet by hot water pressure. It was the site of a bathhouse used by Chief Washakie.
