Origin of Name:
This needle bath plunge is a hot and cold spring not only healing and medicinal but in history a neutral territory among the early Indians. Here all the tribes would lay aside their weapons to bathe and drink the healing water. The springs were also a landmark mentioned in the maps of the Lewis and Clark expedition as "Boiling Springs." The springs were acquired by location by Charles DeMaris in 1885.
