History:

Bonneville Post Office was established on February 2, 1911 with Harry C. Slack as its first postmaster. It was discontinued on July 15, 1913. It was re-established on February 21, 1920 and discontinued again in January, 1944. It was established for a third time in July, 1947 and discontinued on December 30, 1964. Its mail was then handled by the Shoshoni Post Office.

A town located on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, 100 miles northwest of Casper, and 35 miles south of Thermopolis. Bonneville is the transfer point for passengers from the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad to the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for Shoshoni, 3 miles south and towns southwest of Shoshoni to Lander. A good farming and stock raising country surrounds Bonneville. Population 300. Altitude 5,000 feet.
