Origin of Name:

Received its named from the Bordeaux Flats, which were so called after a Frenchman named Bordeaux who operated a roadhouse in the area in 1867. It is said to have been the scene of much drunkenness and many brawls.

History:

Bordeaux Post Office was established in February, 1877 in Laramie County prior to the creation of Platte County. It was discontinued in February, 1896 but re-established in June 1896. It was discontinued again in July, 1899. It was established for a third time in March, 1902 and discontinued in October, 1939. Its mail was then handled at the Slater Post Office.
