Origin of Name:
Originally named Cone Mountain for the cone shaped appearance of the mountain. While hunting in this region, P. Williams found an outcropping of copper rock in the Little Rattlesnake Range. He located the Depass Mine and several others. The development never became profitable, but the mountain became known as Copper Mountain.
