Origin of Name:
A canyon opening into the lower end of Lake Guernsey from the northeast. During the early days a skeleton was found on a small beach at the mouth of this gulch, along the Platte. On the feet were still the remains of leather boots, and attached to these, an enormous pair of sliver spurs. The body was never identified and was buried in the same spot it was found.
