Death Canyon has such a sinister name that it should have a thrilling story connected with it but so far the only reason unearthed for its name is that it was almost certain death to attempt to travel up or down the canyon. The walls are, for the most part, sheer precipices thousands of feet in height. Rocks and boulders are continually falling and bounding from the heights down into the narrow bottom of the canyon.
