Origin of Name:
In the northern part of Hot Springs State Park is the Devils Punch Bowl. This is a huge extinct spring, there being now only a rather small pool of cool water at the bottom of its crater, about 50 feet below its surface. This bowl is approximately 300 feet in diameter. It is almost perfectly round with a rim at the extreme outer edge, and appears as though it has at some time been a huge Morning Glory Spring, such as that in Yellowstone Park, only much larger.
