Named by the Mennonites, who settled there, as a "Land of Promise."

Named by the Mennonites who settled there. Eden Valley irrigation project is one of the largest in Wyoming. At Eden is the crossing where Horace Greeley spent the night of August 16, 1859 in a log house, which was the only one between Fort Bridger on the Black's Fork and Old Fort Laramie.

Eden Post Office was established as Francis Post Office in April, 1907 and changed to Eden in October, 1908. It was discontinued in June, 1926 but re-established in April, 1928.
