A number of years ago some homesteaders located on land in what is now known as the “The Flagstaff”, a part of the Red Bank Cattle Company. One day they found a tree so tall and straight that they decided to use it as a flag pole. They felled, peeled, hauled it home, set it up and put a flag on it. Since then the place has been known as “Flagstaff”.
