Origin of Name:
Range, Yellowstone National Park, Wyo., watershed between Gallatin and Gardiner Rivers. Named after the river, for Albert Gallatin, distinguished statesman, which was so named by Lewis and Clark, 1805. The river rises in Gallatin Lake, on the west slope of the range.
