History:

Garland Post Office was established in November, 1901 and discontinued in March, 1973. Its mail was then handled by the Powell Post Office.

A new and growing town in Park County, on the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, 27 miles east of Cody, the county seat. Supply point for the surrounding country. Stockraising and farming the leading industries.

Garland had its beginning with the arrival of the Burlinton and Missouri Railroad in August 1901. The townsite had been surveyed the previous June by Anselmo B. Smith, an agent for the Lincoln Land Co. It became known as "The Gate City," for in reality it became the gateway for the greater portion of the Big Horn Basin.
