Hecla ... a mining district on Middle Crow Creek, which has been worked at intervals since the late 1880's. Men still prospect here for copper, silver, and gold. Ruins of a brick kiln, a copper smelter, log cabins, and adobe houses are scattered near ranch buildings and corrals, surrounded by gnarled, nearly dead apple trees.
