History:

The L^K Ranch on Stockade Beaver Creek, is the site of a stockade erected in 1875 by the geologist Walter P. Jenney and his party, who were making a mineral survey for the Government with a view to the purchase of the Black Hills from the Sioux. Miners, already in the country, assisted Jenney. The stockade was moved in 1933 to Newcastle and rebuilt as a pioneer museum.
