Mine owned by Colonel Downey, 1878. Located on Douglas Creek southwest of Centennial and operated by Keystone Mining Company, from which the town takes its name.

History:

Keystone Post Office was established on November 30, 1889 with David B. Dole as its first postmaster. It was discontinued on February 1, 1893 but re-established on July 21, 1904. It was discontinued on November 30, 1910 and its mail then handled by Albany Post Office.
