... small stream rising in Shoshone Lake, flowing into Snake River, 2 miles north of southern boundary of the Yellowstone National Park. The Lewis Falls are on the Lewis River, 1 mile south of outlet of Lewis Lake. Lewis Lake was so named for Meriwether Lewis, in command of the Lewis and Clark expedition, 1804-1806.
