Origin of Name:
In the pioneer days John Marsden, now of Converse County lived at Centennial. He was for a time in the employ of the late Stephen W. Downey in development work. While at Centennial there lived with the Marsden family a sister named Elizabeth and it was for her that the brother named the stream Libby. After the Centennial lead petered out, John Marsden took up other work lines and when the Northwestern Railroad pushed into central Wyoming, he moved into Converse County. John Marsden at one time was commissioner of that county, and has been a prominent and substantial citizen.
