Origin of Name:
Named for Pete McCullough, foreman of the Carter outfit who brought in herds of cattle from Oregon. The area is rich in prehistoric fossils dating back 30 to 60 million years ago. This area was once tropical and wet. Numerous crocodile, dinosaur, and mammal bones were found in this area.
