Origin of Name:

The town of Middleton is located about halfway up on Owl Creek. It was given this name by Colonel Sliney who had been born at Middleton, Ireland. Mr. Winchester built the first frame house in the Owl Creek valley from the first lumber and materials manufactured by John A. Thompson in the first saw mill of the valley. This was built at the old Pardee Ranch and was considered very modern with its shingled roof and plastered walls. The plastering was done by Billy Benway, who burned the limestone at Thermopolis from native limestone rock.
