Morton, twenty four miles west of Riverton, had quite a bustling population at the time the Hiline Canal was being built from Diversion Dam to the Morton Reservoir. Camp activities here lasted a couple of years, but about 1922 the camp was practically deserted. All the small homes in which the laborers had lived were moved away, the store buildings were closed, the hotel became deserted, and the townsite took on the appearance of a cemetary at night time.
