Origin of Name:

Neiber was the home and farm of Mr. Neiber who settled the lower part of Gooseberry Creek on the Big Horn River, also on the main highway, nine miles south of Worland, Wyoming, which was the old stage route. The Burlington Railroad, which passes through the town, established the town in 1906. It was named by the railroad after Mrs. Neiber, Mr. Neiber having died in the very early part of the twentieth century. She built a store and was the first postmistress in the county. Both having died now, they are buried above Neiber on a high hill, that has been used for a burial ground even by the Indians, that over looks the valley for many miles.
