Located on Poison Spider Creek; named by S.A. Aggers, who came from Oil City, Pennsylvania in the 1880’s and drilled for oil.

So named because of the drilling for oil in that vicinity in 1880 by S. A. Aggers who hailed from Oil City, Pennslvania.

Oil City Post Office was established in September, 1888 and discontinued in June, 1895. Mail was then handled by the Johnstown Post Office.
