Origin of Name:

Sage was named for the sagebrush that covered the hills and the valley. Old timers say that the sage grew higher than a man's head in those days.

History:

Sage Post Office was established on November 8, 1900 in Uinta County prior to the formation of Lincoln County. Mae C. Kinsey was the first postmaster. It was discontinued in February, 1973 and its mail then handled by the Kemmerer Post Office.
