Origin of Name:
Salt River runs the full length of Star Valley which is in the western part of the northern half of Lincoln County. The oldest known salt works in the west were established near Auburn on Smoking Creek by Emil Stumpf and William White in the early 1870's. The salt was said to be 99.99% pure.
