Origin of Name:

Basil La Jeunesse, said to have been a descendant of Gabriel La Jeunesse, of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s immortal “Evangeline”, established a trading post in Sweetwater County in 1858. Basil La Jeunesse was widely known and was called “Cineneau.” It is from Cineneau that the Seminoe Mountains derive their name.
