Origin of Name:
Sibylee was named for a Frenchman, who was a member of the Adams Company. Mr. Sibylee had several stores at Fort Laramie and Chugwater in the early days. He came to Fort Laramie in 1842 for a rendezvous of Indians to make war on the Arapahos. The rendezvous didn't materialize, but they had a buffalo hunt and General Parkman went with them across the Laramie River to Rock Creek and Medicine Bow.

History:
Sibylee Post Office was established on April 16, 1888 in Albany County prior to the formation of Platte County. Its first postmaster was Julia Plaga. It was discontinued on May 31, 1932 and its mail then handled by the Wheatland Post Office.
