History:

In 1857 at this location,  the Mormon organization called the Danites or "Avenging Angels," attacked and captured a train of wagons loaded with supplies for Colonel Albert Sidney Johnson's army. The wagonmasters were ordered to return to Fort Leavenworth while the rest of the wagons and stores were burned.
