Origin of Name:

Post Office at the old Spectacle Ranch and named by the rancher’s wife, Mrs. H. W. Davis, from Sussex County, Delaware. In later years the post office was moved from there to its present location.

History:

Sussex Post Office was established as Powder River Post Office on May 22, 1879 and changed to Sussex on October 18, 1895. Henry W. Davis was the first postmaster.  It was discontinued on May 24, 1963 and its mail then handled by the Kaycee Post Office.
