Origin of Name:

This rock gave the name to Teapot Town which was named from the creek of this name and for the large rock formation bearing a marked resemblance to a teapot. About thirty six miles north of Casper, the town was started August 11, 1922. This is in the vicinity of the Teapot Dome and Naval Oil Reserve.
