Origin of Name:

Terrace Spring ... flows a continuous stream of hot water, bearing chemicals high in silica content, which spreads out at the nearer end of the pool. The release of gases in the water causes these chemicals to be precipitated to form terraces of siliceous sinter. Geese use this hot pool as a rendezvous in the winter.

History:

The Terraces are beautiful in all their variety of color. These Terraces are travertine or mineral deposits from the water of the Big Spring, and the traveler shouldn't fail to take a hike over the board walk which covers these Terraces.
