Origin of Name:
The Trabing brothers, August and Charles, old time freighters established a ranch on Crazy Woman Creek, on the route from Cheyenne to the Powder River military post. The ranch was called Trabing. The buildings were later moved into Buffalo.

Trabing Post Office was established in August, 1880 and discontinued in February, 1881. It was re-established in september 1881 and discontinued again in December, 1913. Its mail was then handled by Buffalo Post Office.
