The town of Walcott while not boasting a large population, is a place of no small business importance. It was once a sheep shearing camp. Then, with the opening and development of the Encampment mining district, Walcott being a point on the Union Pacific nearest to that growing section, was made the passenger and freight station for the entire valley and mining district.
