Named after James White, a lone prospector in Shell Valley for quite some time before cattlemen brought their stock to feed in the fertile soil of the valley. White Creek is a small stream coming out of the Big Horn Mountains to the east and flowing into Shell Creek near the Kerschner Ranch home. It is a picturesque stream running through the red clay foot hills before entering Shell Creek. Chimney Rock and a red clay boulder balanced on another rock mark the mouth of White Creek.
