The Wyoming Board of Geographic Names is charted by Executive Order 1995-7 whose purpose is:
1) Carry out the goals and objectives of the United States Board of Geographic Names;
2) Assist and advise state agencies and organizations and the general public in understanding the process and preparing applications for submission to the United States Board of Geographic Names;
3) Advise the United States Board of Geographic Names on matters concerning geographic names in Wyoming.
